summer life has taken over

Greetings all! yes, I am still alive, in case any one was wondering ;-)

My kids were done school on June 17th and I am happy to report that they all passed! See going to school on a reserve ain't all that bad! Kids can learn anywhere!

Today is our anniversary! We have been married for four years, but together for fourteen. Happy Anniversary husby, I love you more than you will ever know, I guarantee that one! ♥

Here we are, don't we look happy? lol

RAIN! Oh my goodness this rain is so yesterday! I have lost track of how many days it's been since we had a cloud free, rain free day. And the sad part is, there's more rain in the forecast! I don't normally mind the rain but a garden needs balance!

And my garden is doing nicely. I will make a new post with more pics! Everything is growing great but I'm sure it would do better with some sunshine!

So that is all I am going to write...a short and to-the-point-no-political-bullshit post!

ps...four days until my birthday! I will be 28..wink wink wink.

Truth and Reconciliation Commission back to work

The Truth and Reconciliation Commission is finally back to work!! *breathing a sigh of relief here*

The three former members of the commission all resigned, I blogged about it here back in February.

Justice Murray Sinclair will be the chair of the panel. Justice Murray Sinclair is Ojibwa and was the first Aboriginal Associate Chief Justice in Manitoba in 1988. Also at that time, he was Manitoba's first Aboriginal judge and Canada's second.

The other two members of the commission are:

Marie Wilson, a former journalist and a senior executive with CBC North, who is not Aboriginal but has a residential school survivor living with her.

and Wilton Littlechild, Alberta's regional chief of The Assembly of First Nations.

Over the course of it's mandate which has been extended by a year (thankfully), the commission will:

*Prepare a comprehensive historical record on the policies and operations of the schools.

*Complete a publicly accessible report that will include recommendations to the government of Canada concerning the Indian Residential School system and its legacy.

*Establish a research centre that will be a permanent resource for all Canadians.

*Host seven national events in different regions across Canada to promote awareness and public education about the Indian Residential School system and its impacts.

*Support events designed by individual communities to meet their unique needs.

*Support a commemoration initiative that will provide funding for activities that honour and pay tribute in a permanent and lasting manner to former Indian Residential School students.

It is sure to be a long and emotional road for all involved, and I send many prayers and blessings to all.

Five Beautiful Things That I Love

Here is a little list (as always, no particular order) of Five Beautiful Things That I Love! An alternative to my previous blog entry.
1- World Peace!! Awwww! Such a concept eh? Wouldn't it be nice to not worry about some crazy whack-a-do dropping a nuclear bomb or wiping out a single human race over something as ridiculous as religion or land? I mean seriously now, can't we all just get along? why does world peace have to be so difficult. But still, I'm sure it can happen. World Peace would be fricking beautiful!!

2- Gardening!! Everyone has gotta love a garden right? I can't even put into words how happy my garden makes me feel. It's such a wonderful learning experience for me and my kids. It is truly amazing and peaceful! I recommend it to absolutely everyone! Gardening is fricking beautiful!!

3- Jonathan R. Knight is soooooo hot he's beautiful! I've always loved/possibly obsessed over Jonathan Knight since I was a young girl. NKOTB really stole my heart, love them all but Jonathan...my, my, my. Jonathan R. Knight is fricking BEAUTIFUL!!

(side note...I could do a whole page of pics of him *drool*)

4- Love! All you need is love...it's simple,it's complex. It can hurt you or leave you feeling all warm and toasty for an eternity. Love is fricking beautiful!!

5- Babies! I have four of my own and sometimes wish I never had a tubal, but I get my baby fixes from friends! I love babies, they are so sweet, innocent and smell yummy. Babies are Beautiful!

5 ugly things I hate

There are several things in the world that I absolutely HATE. I know hate is such an ugly word, but so are the following (in no particular order) :

CLEAR CUTS!! They make me feel like throwing up, and crying at the same time. For anyone (like IRVING) to say they are necessary for proper maintenance of the forest is absolutely fucking nuts! The big forestry companies only replant the softwoods, and to hell with everything else. This is ugly, and so are the lumber companies that do this for a living. How can you make a living out of killing? Clear cuts are fucking ugly!

WAR!! Now I know war is necessary but wouldn't it be lovely if it wasn't? It destroys so much, life, land, cities and spirits. But in the end it can build peace...or so we hope. But war, my friends, is just fucking ugly.

♦ POLLUTION!! Ever since I was a kid, seeing pollution in our rivers, oceans and on our land always disturbed me. Mountains of trash at dumps, islands of trash in the ocean. If only the previous generations used their brains before lazily disposing of their garbage etc. Pollution is fucking ugly!

♦ Communism !! I'll be the first to admit that I don't know much about communism, except what I see on tv about communist countries...like for example North Korea. Starving your own people while beefing up your military and yourself is fucking ugly!

♦ CRUELTY TO ANIMALS! It really baffles me how some people can be so cruel and mean to animals. Not just pets, but for example circus animals. I mean come on now, how do bears learn to dance and ride bikes? HELLO they do what they do to avoid being hit or whatever right? This is not a normal life for the bears. Cruelty to animals is fucking ugly!

hello June, I've missed you

Welcome June! Just twenty more days until the first day of summer, and well Father's Day too. What a nice day that is going to be. I'm going to have to get a bottle of wine for that celebration day!

June is such a nice month, June bugs will be out soon. Actually I did see one a few weeks ago but it's since gotten chilly again and I think the buggers went back to sleep. Send warm weather vibes my way, so I can catch a June bug just to make myself scream and laugh!

G.A.R.D.E.N update

Well, it's slow growing that's for sure. But I have to keep reminding myself it is still generally early for planting some things. I learned that the hard way! I lost two pumpkin plants and about five gourd plants. Luckily I had the sense to not plant all of my seeds and have some more growing inside that will be put out soon. I also lost three little cucumber plants.

So far in my garden I have potatoes, carrots, peas, swiss chard, corn, beets, yellow beans, green beans, red peppers and purple peppers and spinach for veggies. Fruits are rhubarb (I think that's a fruit?), strawberries and blueberries. Husband also planted some parsley which I'm not sure I'll ever use but hey...it's planted!

here's a few pics!

My three youngest entering the garden.

little baby plants

more baby stuff...so baby you can't even see them! LOL I really should weed the garden before taking pics huh?

lets get a little closer...

here's a carrot...can you see it?

a potato plant

some peas (which I need to get stakes for this week!)

I have a choke cherry tree on the outsides of my garden, it looked very pretty this year with all it's blossoms. It was windy the other day and most of the blossoms blew off, all around me. It was like snow only much nicer because it wasn't cold!

I will put more pics up soon! I promise!
